Individualized Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Individualized Dual Diagnosis Treatment at Unity Recovery Center is designed for people who suffer from co-occurring disorders, such as a mental illness – depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, post-traumatic stress or personality disorders – and a substance abuse problem. Those suffering from dual diagnosis are high-risk patients who may respond differently to drug and alcohol recovery treatments; therefore it is necessary to seek proper treatment at Unity Rehab.
We know that recovery can be challenging. Both the disorder and the addiction have their own symptoms, which can disrupt ones ability to live a normal life. Our dual diagnosis treatment center uses an integrated approach that treats both disorders at the same time, providing the best possible individualized rehabilitation outcome.
Making a dual diagnosis with drug and alcohol users can be difficult as mental illness and substance abuse are directly related. Drug abuse often promotes psychiatric symptoms making it hard to distinguish between substance induced problems and a pre-existing mental illness. In many dual diagnosis cases, people with mental health problems turn to drugs and alcohol to hide the symptoms of, and even treat their disorder. This typically causes abusers to seek help for the mental disorder before the physical addiction, but handling one problem and waiting to address the other is ineffective. When a mental illness is left untreated, the substance abuse problem usually gets worse. Likewise, when substance abuse increases, symptoms of a mental health issue increase as well.

The experienced staff at our dual diagnosis treatment center is dedicated to providing a personalized dual diagnosis treatment plan that focuses on the cohesive interaction between both the mental illness and the physical addiction. We offer a wide variety of services by trained counselors, and specialize in treating dual diagnosis patients in all stages of the recovery process. At our dual diagnosis treatment center, each patient is evaluated by a psychiatrist and a medical ARNP to assess the severity of their ailments. Through a collaborative decision making process between patient and physician, a personalized care regimen is prescribed to fit their specific medical needs. The patient will then meet with his or her psychiatrist once a week to evaluate their progress.
